Dizengof 99 - a piece of TLV in Russia?

The city of Tel Aviv has quietly undergone a cultural transformation. Israel’s second largest city, Tel Aviv, once relied on its pristine Mediterranean beaches and relaxed secular culture to generate international hype. No more. Born out of Israel’s (and it’s own) perpetual identity crisis, Tel Aviv has emerged as one of most dynamic cities on the planet, consistently being held up by sources such as Wallpaper Magazine and Condé Nast as a global cultural capital.

The Moscow based design office Crosby Studios has recently unveiled its most recent project, Dizengof 99. Named after the Israeli cult film, the restaurant’s open and laid back ambiance aims to recreate the artistic vibes of Tel Aviv’s Florentin quarter.

Housed in an independent structure, Dizengof 99 dishes out typical Israeli fare that is further contextualized within the building’s Memphis Group inspired exterior.

Commenting on the space’s large windows and open interior, Crosby’s founders Harry Nuriev and Dmitry Vorontsov focused on creating a space reminiscent of Tel Aviv’s warm summers, a Mediterranean escape from the Russian capital’s harsh winters.
